Subject: Spanish language tests and W5YI VE's
Hi Victor. I'll leave the
copyright issue to you, Bart and Bill Cross to resolve if there
are any issues. However, I must object to your comments regarding
former W5YI VE's being recertified by either W4VEC or W5YI.
I have heard this allegation a number of times, and I have
explained that there are at a maximum three former W5YI- VE's who
have been put back in operation. The
allegations against Ivan Valentin, with all due respect,
should stop unless you
have something credible other than rumor. In fact, the person claiming he paid $500 for an Amateur exam to a guy named Ivan was
presented with a drivers license photo of Ivan Valentin and denied that it
was him. The
accusations made in the last paragraph of your letter are out of line unless you come up with something
bedsides rumor. Nothing has been submitted to support your statement
in your June 3 letter that "Please note
that at the present time, ex-W5YI VE's (under the accreditation of
other VECs) are re-examining candidates who do not show up for FCC
retesting. An excellent way to bypass the FCC compliance
program". I think that the allegations based on rumors should stop now, and this matter
should be closed unless you have more reliable evidence.
Furthermore, there is nothing wrong with their taking the
tests--the whole idea is to make sure they get a valid test before
getting an Amateur license. Anyone who does not show up for
an exam is free to take it later if they want a license again, or
if they want the license class they had.
